Loretta Kaye Smith, age 71, of Centralia, passed away at 5:35 am on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at home, with her family at her side.
Loretta was born in Champaign on October 16, 1952, the daughter of Robert H. and Gloria R. (Harrison) Sylvester. Prior to her retirement, Loretta had worked as a waitress. Waitressing was not just a job for her, but a passion that allowed her to connect with people.
"Runt", a nickname given to her at a young age by her father, was a fiery and loving spirit who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. With a nickname that suited her fiesty personality, Loretta lived life on her own terms, never backing down from a challenge. Little did she know, that her unwavering defiance and headstrong nature was inspiring others to stand up for themselves and live life unapologetically.
